Site 5 – Scammers

They charge for services I did not receive. I contacted my credit card company and they removed the charges. Then Site 5 sends me a bill for the service again and adds a $25 fee for the credit card company dispute. In the meantimeRead More, I am current on the correct billing ($141/month). They suspend my account, lock me out of the VPS, all hosting in all my cpanel accounts go down. I finally agreed to pay every thing they wanted – feels like ransom – and they don’t provide a way to make an online payment. Keep telling me to login – but they locked me out. No phone number to call, only a chat screen. These people are really, really, really bad.Less

Site5 is a sad, poorly operated company indeed

1.4
Forced to transfer to Sit5 from IX Web Hosting. Was NEVER notified. Had to discover what the heck was going on by myself. Migration was a nightmare. MANY websites were broken and FormMail didn’t work at all. Seems that for FormMaiRead Morel to fucntion on their servers changes needed to be made in the configuration. Fine. However, don’t you think THEY ought to make those changes or at the very least notify me that changes are needed? Many of my HTML pages call up PHP code. This has always word flawlessly for years on IX Web Hosting, and other Web Hosting companies. But not on Site5. But the real kicker is that Site5 Tech couldn’t figure out why if wouldn’t work and they NEVER DID!
I had to RE-CODE all my dozens of pages to eliminate the original code and replace it with standard HTML, which was not the original code’s intention.
Sit5 Live Chat was pretty straight forward when I was first migrated to their operation (about May of 2018). Now when I try to start an online chat I am asked for my billing password (never had one from Site5 since I was a migration). And I can see further down on the online form that it wants to ask me what Hosting package I want to buy? What the hell? I just want to talk to someone. Now I am hearing that all phone support is being eliminated in the near future and only online Chat will be available. Well, they better get their act together quickly sine this new online chat doesn’t seem to be a nice, simple straight froward option.
Trying to submit a Trouble Ticket just dumps me back to the “chat” feature, again asking for all kinds of stuff unrelated to the topic I need help with.
So I called phone support and was told that in the near future phone support will be the only method to reach Site5, confirming what I already knew.I was then told that all agents were helping other clients and that they would be with me shortly. Well, after a one (1) hour wait, I decided to play a game. I put my on speaker
and waited, while go about running my business. I wanted to see how long it would actually take before an agent came online. In the meantime I was “entertained” by endless and excessively loud “music”. The results of test? After 3 hours and 45 minutes I gave up and hung up my phone.
3 hours and 45 minutes and no one came on the line. Only an occssional “..we’ll be with you shortly”. . AMAZING!!
Is this company trying to go out of business? Are these people serious?
I also think their Hosting price are too high, their Domain registration costs are too high and their service level is essentially zero. I am seriously think of switching to another Hosting service but I am frighted by the work I’ll likely have to do. I seem to pay Site5 all the money but I am doing all the work .A Disaster company indeed.
Stay away.

My experience is worse, yesterday they took down IXwebhosting servers and with them went my DNS and as result my email is down, tech support takes forever to answer and you have to fill the stupid billing account information pageRead More to reach a chat with someone who has no idea what is happening, After reaching them about 7pm yesterday and their indication that they solved the problem around midnight it is 11 hours later and still no DNS. Since the migration from IXWebhosting to SIte5 in May we have been down do to DNS problems three times, the last one yesterday. As of 10:45am today August 29 we have been down for 24 hours. Their only answer is the ‘We are Sorry you are having problems” and “We are giving priority to your situation” but 11 hours what they call priority moves at the speed of molasses on a winter day.Less

I had A LOT of problems with site 5 from day one, but here’s what got me suspended. They started doing strange things with my billing. One month it would autopay, the next it wouldn’t, then it would autopay for two months, then noRead Moret autopay. Then the server kept dumping emails, and their security was atrocious and they crossed my account with someone else’s and I was getting their emails and some of their data, and the other Web site owner was seeing my stuff. After speaking with the other Website owner, we were both frustrated and I called after a series of calls to deal with all that was going on.

Lucky for me, I got the absolute dumbest customer service rep they could find and she kept trying to convince me that the billing, the server dumb, the cross account with an entirely different Web owner were all my fault. Enter an email the next day, claiming that my account would be suspended for an issue that I had not responded to. The owner of the other Website contacts me and tells me he got a similar email. Now, we’re both losing sales and I contact site5 again and they get my site back up, but for some reason, my SSL is no longer working….. So I contact them again through chat, I get the exact same stupid customer service rep, who again proceeds to tell me that this is all my fault. Now up until now, I’ve been as nice as can be with them. And I finally tell her I’m tired of her trying to say everything that’s happened is my fault and I ask to speak to a supervisor. She proceeds to tell me that she is helping me, I proceed to tell her she is not helping me and I need someone who knows what they’re doing with customers and their accounts because I’m tired of their mistakes costing me and my business money. She tells me she’ll create a ticket at a higher level and someone will contact me.

The next day, I get an email telling me they are terminating my account for being rude to a customer service rep. I email them to ask how asking for a supervisor is being rude. I finally get the supervisor to speak to me and go through all the process of explaining all that’s happening and he simply cannot understand what’s causing the issue, so it must be my fault. I tell him I’m in communication with the other owner and I ask him to tell me how to split our accounts on the server. He tells me that’s something the company does, and I say “exactly! So why am I getting the run around here.” Then I ask what the records show about my auto pay and he says I’ve had autopay for two-years and he says that sometimes their servers haven’t processed transactions and sometimes Websites get suspended for that. I ask how that’s supposed to be my fault.

That night, I get an email telling me that they have reviewed the situation and agree that my account will be suspended for “frustrating their customer service agents.”

So, bottom line. If it’s their fault and they’re stupid to solve the issue and you demand that they behave professionally and fulfill the terms of their services, they will terminate your account. I have no idea how this place stays in business. They have no clue how to deal with customers and I’m pretty sure it’s a family of idiots running it who find their servers in boxes of Cracker Jacks and assume they know what they’re doing.

our site migrated from Host Excellence to Site5. We received an email in January 2018 indicating that we would be moving and further announcements would be forthcoming. We received nothing more. In the spring I checked the site itRead More had moved and it was down. Site5 indicated it couldn’t be fixed at their end and I would have to incur the cost at my end. I said it was working fine up until migration and that it was unacceptable. I contacting billing asked for a refund on the remaining time left as well as for the time period beginning with the migration. They don’t do refunds. I cancelled my contract and that was it. There is no logical reason to deal with Site5; do so at your own risk. If you do the research there are numerous hosting companies who will accommodate you professionally. Site5 is bordering on being a scam.Less

Last week my websites were moved to site5 from hostexcellence.com as site5 have bought them out. Everything stopped working since then. There customer service just keeps on raising tickets. They are so crap that they dont even knoRead Morew how to run/fix a perl script, how to give permissions etc etc etc and i dont have access. Unfortunately I renewed hosting service with hostexcellence 3 weeks back for next 2 years and iam still in old billing cycle. Still do are not willing me to refund for next cycle(which have not even started yet.). My websites have not worked for a single day since i moved to them and i cant see them working for next few months atleast as there are errors in every step and their servers dont seem to set up to handle anything and on top of that the customer service does not know what to do about it. If anyone is trying to take legal action against them then please let me know and i will join. They are not willing to refund as well.Less

They can NOT even handle the simple migration from IX WebHosing that went out of business then they dumped all of my domains on this site5 company!!! I have contacted this company multiple times. They currently REFUSE to contact meRead More about the issue and shut me out of their sad excuse of an online chat which is the ONLY method to contact them. That is VIA online chat that you type into. WHAT A CHEAP company!!! Online chat only. They can NOT even answer or help you out in their pathetic chat even if you waste a lot of time waiting to get connected.

I always have my registrar separate from any WebHosing company. While it took me several days I chose a reliable company who actually answers a phone call for help. They walked me through setting up my domains on their servers step by step on the phone. All I had to do was log into my separate registrar company and change the DNS values to the new webhost providers site. Nothing to it.

HEY SITE5, you are a bunch of trash who can not even perform a simple migration from IX WebHosting. I FOUND A COMPANY WAY BETTER THAN YOU!!!!! THEY ACTUALL USE A PHONE TO HELP A NEW CLIENT OUT!!!!!!

Site5 refuses to restore my website hereticpress.com with the dedicated IP. Site5 recently purchased IXPwebhosting accounts in early 2018. In the migration they made hereticpress.com a subdomain, I cannot access any server logs, Read Moremy service is greatly reduced, no secure email server. This is a breach of contract. 14 years I had a dedicated IP with IXP and Site5 arrogantly deleted it. You would think that Site5 might want to retain an IXP client of 14 years standing but not so. Overview

Site5.com – Can’t Beat the Services and Location Options

Site5.com is one of the most established web hosting companies on the market today.  They have been providing their customers with high quality web hosting for years, yet remain one of the more advanced services available. When you sign up with a new account with Site5, they will move all your sites from any other hosting solution over, free of charge.  This is a great feature since web hosting transfers can be tricky, especially if you haven’t done them in the past. One of the best features of this hosting company is that they have servers in data centers around the world.  This means you can have your site hosted in a location that is near where your visitors are from. With this option your visitors will likely notice that your site loads more quickly and is much more responsive. They have also customized their control panel (still using the industry standard cPanel) to help make it easier for newer users.  If you’re already used to the traditional cPanel setup, it is not difficult to learn this new system at all and in most cases you will likely enjoy the added usability.

Uptime & Reliability

99.9% uptime with a money back guarantee

Like most web hosting companies, Site5 offers a full 99.9% uptime guarantee.  In addition, however, they guarantee that if your site goes down, they will refund you the money.  This is a nice little perk, though in most cases it is not something you will ever take advantage of (this is a good thing). In the event that you do run into trouble, Site5 has 24/7/365 live chat and email technical support.  They also offer phone support during normal business hours. There have been very few complaints about reliability from users of this company, and given the fact that they have so many different data centers, it is clear that they are able to provide exceptional reliability.

Features & Services

Nearly endless list of high quality services available

Be careful when you start browsing through their list of available services, it seems like it goes on forever.  Some of the more important options include unlimited disk space and bandwidth on all their packages (even the entry level ones).  All their packages also include free backups, a 99.9% uptime guarantee, easy website builder and much more. You can only have one website hosted on their lowest level package, but once you move up from that, they offer unlimited domain and website hosting. If you aren’t 100% happy with the services you get from Site5, they offer a full 45 day money back guarantee, which will give you plenty of time to really evaluate their services properly.

Pricing

Fair pricing for all levels of services

Site5 offers a wide variety of differnet web hosting services to choose from.  Their entry level package starts at $4.95 per month, which is about average these days.  The prices go up based on the type of services you need. In addition to their popular shared hosting services, they also offer managed and unmanaged virtual servers, which are priced quite nicely.  For example, if you are a web expert and go with an unmanaged VPS, you can get a dual core, 1 gig of memory setup for just $25 per month.  It is $50 for the same setup under the managed option. It is important to note that their prices do change based on where you select to have your website hosted.  For example, a basic package in Dallas Texas starts at just $4.95 per month.  That same package is $5.95 in San Francisco, and $9.95 in Joao Pessoa, Brazil.  Make sure you are looking closely at where you want your site hosted.  It is often worth the extra money to get the location you want, but in some cases it is better to just go with the lower price.

Summary

sales@site5.com

This is an obvious choice for anyone who is picky about where their websites are hosted.  They have almost two dozen different data centers to choose from, giving you more options than almost any other hosting company available today.  They also have a long history of providing great customer service and excellent support. <p><b>Pros</b></p> <ul class=”checkmarks”> <li>Free site migration from old hosting companies</li> <li>Nearly two dozen data centers to choose from, located around the world</li> <li>Unlimited bandwidth and disc space</li> </ul> <p><b>Cons </b></p> <ul class=”icon-x”> <li>Limited to one site on their ‘hostBasic’ plan</li> <li>Some customers have complained that their entry level hosting is somewhat slow</li> </ul>
